Many small business owners and authors, who are notoriously short on money, insist on having a quality website which can cost thousands of dollars but overlook the obvious: social media, and most of the time, right now, that starts with Facebook, Not with your personal page, however. Some do that: they tout their business on their personal page or even create a personal page for business. I’m talking about a genuine Facebook business or fan page.
Three reasons for a Facebook business or fan page:
- Facebook offers “perks” that you cannot find elsewhere. You can see how many viewed your posts and also view the demographics of your fans by age, sex and location.
- If you are selling a tangible product, you can often sell directly from your page. You can also link your page to your website, your blog and elsewhere. The more you are able to connect everything together, the more likely you are to appear higher on Google and other search engines.
- When first starting out, who’s most likely your biggest fans and supporters? Your family, your friends, and your business acquaintances….and where are they already? That’s right, Facebook! So why not use that resource and the contacts you already have to gain more!
Facebook does have a lot of do’s and don’ts that I will be covering in subsequent installments. Feel free to ask questions and I’ll answer them in a future post. I’d love to hear from you!. Write Tina at firstname.lastname@example.org.
