Facebook Suggestions for Authors and Small Business, Part II

Yes, Facebook algorithms are constantly changing and can be intimidating, but there is a sure-fire way to get more people engaged regardless. The thing to always remember is that Facebook is a SOCIAL network, and if you keep that in mind, you WILL be seen, and often without buying ads or putting money into boosting posts.

The problem with many businesses is they use their page strictly for business and only write business-related posts, but lets face it. How many people are going to “like” this post:

Ad to share on blog.Probably not very many. It states a service I offer, but it’s not the most exciting material in the world.

Okay, what about this:


This one is different, catches the eye much more and has humor to it. People will “like” it much more. And guess what? When people “like” your posts, the more your posts will appear on their news feeds and the more likely they will see your business posts. If they never “like” your posts, you will soon disappear and be forgotten.

You can pick a particular theme for your non-business stuff. Most of mine focus around language or grammar, but it’s important to put the fun stuff in. They say to make approximately 80% of your posts non-business, and I tend to do a lot more than that. It will help you be noticed, which is the whole nature of the game, no matter how you advertise.
